The Christchurch startup making robots

A Christchurch startup is making tailor-made robots for government agencies – from a garage.

Techmatics NZ Robotics may be considered a small-tech business, but its robots are making a rather large splash in the New Zealand technology space.

The startup has supplied a robot to the Department of Corrections, where it's being tested to search vehicles before they enter prisons and other secure facilities. The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has also bought one to protect biosecurity at New Zealand’s borders.
